FAQS

1. What are DHL Import Delivery Services?

DHL Express offers several kinds of import delivery services – supported by the strength of DHL’s globally standardized customs clearance practices and unparalleled local customs expertise. Learn more here.

2. Do I need to pay duties and taxes to import goods into Thailand?

Although you ordered and purchased the goods online, the goods are still subjected to an import procedure to clear the shipment through customs. Clearance depends on:

  • The country of origin
  • The value, including transport charges
  • The quantity of goods

Each country has its own customs regulations and duties for different types of goods, and their values are set locally. DHL, like any other international transportation company, must adhere to local customs legislation and so DHL pays duties on the receiver’s behalf to clear shipments on arrival. DHL only releases the goods to you upon the full repayment of any duties and taxes that were paid on your behalf.

However, if your shipment’s CIF value does not exceed 1,500 baht, you will be exempted from applicable taxes and duties.

3. What can be imported to Thailand?

Some commodities such as cash, firearms, counterfeit goods or narcotics, animal parts such as ivory or shark fins and illegal goods or property, the carriage of which is prohibited by any law, regulation or statute of any federal, state or local government of any country to or through which the shipment may be carried, are not accepted for transport by DHL under any circumstance. More information at Thailand Customs Official Website here.

If you are in any doubt as to the acceptability of your goods, please contact DHL Customer Service or your DHL representative prior to shipping.

4. Can I check the shipping price before starting to import?

Get estimated prices and transit time via MyDHL+ here.

Prices quoted are estimates based on the information you have supplied, for example, the quoted price may not include applicable import duties or taxes, clearance or other surcharges. Your final transit time and price may differ based on the characteristics of the shipment, services requested and the packages actually tendered to DHL.
